Primera/Hill was selected to design and be the prime contractor for the mechanical renovations to these two high-rise apartment buildings, Siemans Building Technologies, Inc. was the performance contractor.The project included dismantling and removing the existing steam boiler plant including converters, pumps, piping, breeching, controls, wiring and insulation. Five new Patterson-Kelly high efficiency hot water forced draft boilers, each rated at 2,000,000 Btuh were then installed in the north building basement mechanical room along with two 750,000 Btuh domestic hot water heaters, pumps, expansion tank and associated new piping. New hot water lines were run underground approximately 200 feet to the south building basement mechanical room and connected to the existing hot water heating mains and a new double wall water-to-water heat exchanger backing up an existing domestic hot water heater. The project included wiring, breechings, temperature controls, piping, hydraulic specialties, thermal insulation, testing/balancing and commissioning. Complete: 2009 |
