Des Plaines Oasis, Illinois State Toll Highway Authority
Des Plaines, Illinois

Hill Mechanical is the HVAC and plumbing contractor for the reconstruction of the Oasis building located on Interstate Tollway I-90 in Des Plaines, Illinois. The Oasis is a 65,600 square feet building that offers refreshments to toll road users. Such contemporary vendors as McDonald's, Starbucks, Subway, and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts will provide the food services.

The HVAC scope of work includes the installation of new mechanical systems that provide approximately 140 tons of cooling from six packaged rooftop units, which utilize DX cooling and gas-fired heating. The perimeter of the building on the upper level, which is primarily glass, is heated by fin-tube radiation. The mechanical room and crawl spaces are heated with a combination of unit heaters and fin-tube radiation. The source of heating hot water originates from two 750 MBH boilers.

The plumbing scope of work includes the build out of four toilet rooms, including the installation of approximately eighty fixtures. Domestic water, sanitary and storm systems are completely reworked as well.
